Tebow even received quite a backing from the boss himself

Tebow even received quite a backing from the boss himself, John Elway, who gave his strongest indication yet in an interview with The Associated Press that he believes Tebow can transform from a scrambling quarterback into a pocket passer.
That meant a lot to the young quarterback.
"Mr. Elway is obviously one of the best to ever play the game. To get any compliment from him is extremely nice," said Tebow, who is 5-0 on the road since taking over the starting job. "He's been around this game a long time. That's nice to hear."
Bills coach Chan Gailey applauds Denver's bold choice of switching to the unconventional option offense to better fit Tebow's unique skill set. Gailey always believed that approach could be successful — for a short window anyway.
"I thought the first team that had guts enough to try it, it was going to work for about two years," Gailey said. "Then, defensive coaches in the NFL would catch up to it a little bit. Then, it would be a struggle."
Tebow has proficiently run this offense, just like he did at Florida, where he won the Heisman and two national titles. He's rushed for 610 yards this season, the most by a Denver quarterback and easily surpassing Elway's best mark (304 yards in 1987).
To Gailey, there's just one potential flaw with using the read option — keeping the quarterback healthy. That's a reason why it really hasn't been tried to the extent it has until now.

The United States on Thursday urged its citizens to leave Syria immediately

WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- The United States on Thursday urged its citizens to leave Syria immediately, citing the "ongoing uncertainty and volatility" of the current situation in the Arab state.
The State Department advised those who must stay behind against nonessential travel within the country. "U.S. citizens not in Syria should defer all travel to Syria at this time," the agency said in an updated travel warning.
"We remind U.S. citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence," it continued. "U.S. citizens are urged to avoid the areas of demonstrations if possible, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of a demonstration."
On April 25, the department ordered all eligible family members of U.S. government employees and certain non-emergency personnel to leave Syria.
Syria has been beset by a six-month-old unrest it blames on foreign conspiracy and foreign thugs. The U.S. slapped additional sanctions on Syria on Aug. 18, targeting its oil and gas industry and freezing all of the government's assets. In concert with U.S.' European allies, President Barack Obama also explicitly called on Syrian President Bashar Assad to step down.

The team's current ownership group declined to discuss the sale agreement Sunday

But he said, "I will be in complete control of the team."

The team's current ownership group declined to discuss the sale agreement Sunday. Bruce Levenson, the lead owner in the negotiations with Meruelo, said in an email to the AJC:  "This is Alex's time, and as such I won't be commenting."

Although his primary residence and business will remain in Southern California, Meruelo said he plans to spend a lot of time in Atlanta and to buy a home here.

"If you look at my previous ... business ventures, I'm very hands-on, and this will be no different," he said.

Asked if there is any scenario in which he would seek to move the Hawks out of Atlanta, Meruelo said: "Absolutely no. None."

He also said: "I want to bring a championship to the city of Atlanta."

Owning an NBA team, he said, "has been a dream of mine and a passion, and you'll definitely see that as I become, hopefully, the owner in a short period of time."

The Atlanta Spirit Group – initially led by Steve Belkin of Boston, Levenson and Ed Peskowitz of Washington and Michael Gearon Jr. of Atlanta –- bought the Hawks, Thrashers and Philips Arena rights from Time Warner in 2004. The group soon became mired in a bitter internal fight that pitted Belkin against his partners. A five-year legal battle finally ended in December when the estranged Belkin was bought out by his partners
